gridlock

''gridlock'' a.k.a. ''mike wells'' & ''mike cadoo'', a high-fidelity duo from ''san francisco'', california, regretfully does not exist anymore. they've started as a classic ''dark waved electronic / industrial'' band way back in 1994 with ''mike welles'' as the only member. in 1995, ''mike cadoo'' has joined the project & the first demo e.p.'s, in the form of cassettes, were released. over the years they've been constantly improving their way of production & their music structure. because of that, in next couple of years they've became one of the most important ''i.d.m.'' music makers in its history, combining high-end ''i.d.m.'' production with a touch of ''industrial'', ''ambient'' & ''electronic''. sadly, in 2005 gridlock's existence has ended... in memory of this ''electronic'' outstanders i'm bringing you this very best:

01. ''enzyme'' (e.p., 1998)
02. ''5.25'' (limited edition, 1999)
03. ''further'' (1999)
04. ''trace'' (2001)
05. ''engram'' (e.p., 12'' vinyl, 2002)
06. ''live traces'' (limited edition, 2002)
07. ''the connected series #4'' (split e.p. with ''steel'', 12'' vinyl, 2003)
08. ''formless'' (2003)

* note: there's a fantastic review by someone who calls him/herself ''mmk1138'' &
           it's about ''formless'' album:

''not only a new level in the i.d.m. genre, but also a rare example of divine, utterly perfect &
infinitely beautiful release. it's not formless at all - the form is well planned & wonderfully
executed - but it's definitely timeless. apparently it was produced by god himself, or at least
someone close to him... buy it, steal it, borrow it, but do anything to get it... missing it is unforgivable.''
