audio active

''audio active'' is one of the most interesting ''cyber dub / electronic / dub electronic / computer rock'' bands which came out of japan. the band was named after an album of one of the u.k.'s greatest reggae artists & producers - ''dennis bovell''. formed in 1991, original ''audio active'' were: singer ''masa'', ''2dd'', ''shigemoto nanao'' & bassist ''takeshi akimoto''. ''masa'' had listened to ''reggae'' since he was a teenager & had played (with ''2dd'') in the ''ska'' band called ''vital connection'' before forming ''audio active''. ''adrian sherwood'' (from ''on-u sound'') began working with the band in 1992 & has produced many of their recordings. further albums followed on labels such as: ''on-u sound'', ''warner music group'' & ''gyroscope''. the band was strongly influenced by ''lee scratch perry'', alongside ''hip-hop'' & ''electronic'' music:
