mentallo & the fixer

''mentallo & the fixer'' is the project name used by ''texan'' ''dark waved electronic / e.b.m. / industrial'' musicians - ''gary dassing'' (as ''mentallo'') & ''dwayne dassing'' (as ''the fixer'') from 1988 to 1999, & by ''gary dassing'' alone from 1999 to the present day.
one of my favorite bands (solo acts) of all time, considering above given genre.
the ''dassing'' brothers first began experimenting with music by the means of more traditional ''rock'' music instruments, such as guitar & drums. however, by the time the two formed their first band, ''benestrophe'', with vocalist ''richard mendez'' (the instruments of choice became synthesizers & samplers). most of the two tapes worth-of material they recorded subsequently became available as the releases ''sensory deprivation'' & ''auric fires'', released on ''ras dva records''.
after parting ways with ''mendez'', the two brothers began working as ''mentallo & the fixer''. their very first release ''no rest for the wicked'' saw a limited 500-copy run on vinyl by the portuguese label ''simbiose records''. soon after began their long-term relationship with the north american ''dark waved electronic / industrial / e.b.m.'' record label, ''metropolis records'', with their second release "revelations 23". this release solidified the band's sound, which included snarling distorted vocals, hard cutting sequencer rhythms, & a thunderous beats. at this time, in 1994, the ''dassing'' brothers formed a side project with vocalist ''michael greene'' called ''mainesthai''. mainesthai's two releases, ''out to lunch'' & ''mentallo & the fixer meets mainesthai'', were also both released on ''metropolis records'', but not until 1998. the ''dassings'' also released ''where angels fear to tread'' (1994), ''...there's no air to breathe'' (compilation, 1995), ''continuum'' (1995), ''burnt beyond recognition'' (1997), ''no rest for the wicked'' (1998), along with 2 singles, ''false prophets'' & ''centuries'', both released in 1997.
after the departure of ''dwayne dassing'' from the band in 1999, ''gary'' continued to use the ''mentallo & the fixer'' pseudonym, releasing several albums including: ''algorythum'' (1999), ''love is the law'' (2000), ''return to grimpen ward'' (2001), ''vengeance is mine'' (2001), ''centuries'' (2005), ''enlightenment through a chemical catalyst'' (2007), ''mentallo & the fixer & associated projects: benestrophe, mainesthai, polyhedron - a collection of rare, unreleased & remastered'' (compilation, 2012), & ''music from the eather'' (2012), along with 3 e.p.'s - "systematik ruin" (1999), ''commandments for the molecular age'' (2006), & ''metroland / aesthetische / mentallo & the fixer / daniel b. prothése - 4.4u [2012.11]'' (2012).

from all of this, as usual, i'm bringing the utmost best:

01. ''burnt beyond recognition'' (1997)
02. ''music from the eather'' (box set, limited edition, 3 x c.d., 2012)

* note: by my opinion - ''music from the eather'' (box set, limited edition, 3 x c.d., 2012)
is the best ''electronic'' album of the year &, probably, one of the best ''electronic''
           albums of all time!

johnny clarke

johnny clarke's big succes came in the 70's after he teamed up with producer ''bunny lee''. under lee's tutelage during 1975-1976, ''clarke'' became the most exciting new singer in jamaica. his repertoire, an astute mix of militant "dread" tunes & love songs, given a contemporary gloss by ''the aggrovators'' studio band, found immediate favour with the discerning dancehall patrons of jamaica & elsewhere. ''lee'' encouraged him to cover classic jamaican standards by artists such as ''john holt'' & ''bob marley''. following this period, ''clarke'' continued to record for ''lee'' & other producers as diverse as ''errol thompson'', ''king jammy'' & ''king tubby''. he has continued to produce high-quality ''reggae'' material to the present day, after a period of inactivity in the mid-80's. during the 90's he recorded for ''fashion records'' & ''jah shaka'', & the ''steely & cleevie'' production duo.
among so many releases, i've decided to pick 3:

01. ''fittest of the fittest'' (7'' vinyl, 197x)
02. ''sip it up (sip a cup showcase volume 6)'' (12'' vinyl, 2008)
03. ''intruder / militancy'' (10'' vinyl, 2008)

gary clail

''gary clail'' is a english singer & record producer. he was a part of ''on-u sound records'', ''the on-u sound system'' & ''gary clail's tackhead sound system''. originally a roofer by profession, during the mid to late 80's he became a warm-up act on ''on-u'' gigs.
his first record (12'' vinyl), ''half cut for confidence'', was released in 1985 for ''on-u sound records'' as ''gary clail & the occult technology of power''. several 12'' singles were issued between 1985 & 1987 before clail's first l.p. for ''nettwerk'' label - ''tackhead tape time''. in 1989 he came up with ''end of the century party'' l.p., issued as ''gary clail & on-u sound system''. this was the major step in his career & an entrance to ''electronic'' underground scene of ''bristol'' (u.k.). this input, incorporated with several singles & e.p.'s, led him to creation of, probably, his best album by now - a legendary ''the emotional hooligan'', from 1991.
the latest releases of this ''electronic / dub / cyber dub'' artist were also his 2nd & 3rd best - ''keep the faith'' (album from 1995) & ''another hard man'' (12'' c.d. from 1996):

01. ''the emotional hooligan'' (1991)
02. ''keep the faith'' (1995)
03. ''another hard man'' (12'' c.d., 1996)
